Brief Introduction of the Office

Directorate of Mission Audit is one of the seventeen (17) audit directorates under the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh (OCAG). This audit directorate is responsible for carrying out audit of all Budgetary Central Government (BCG), Statutory Public Authority (SPA), State Owned Institution (SOI) and Public Enterprise (PE) belonging to two Ministries, namely ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment (MoEWOE). There is no regional office of this directorate. This directorate is particularly responsible for auditing the institutions like High commission, Embassy, Foreign Service Academy, Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies(BIISS),BMET, Welfare Board, BOESL, State Owned Bank Operating in Overseas, Technical Training Centre(TTC) including Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment (MoEWOE). There are 83 missions (Including one Hajj mission of Ministry of Religious Affairs), 26 banking offices and 17 Biman stations which are the cost centers lying outside the country. On the contrary , there are 6 cost centers of Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and 124 cost centers Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment (MoEWOE) lying across the country.  The objective of this directorate is to conduct an effective audit of the afore-mentioned offices in order to ensure value for public money and provide reliable and effective information to the stakeholders with a view to establishing transparency and accountability in their activities.

The core guidance of auditing comes from the relevant section (Article 127- Article 132) of the Constitution of Bangladesh. In discharging its functions, the directorate follows the provisions of the Constitution of Bangladesh, Comptroller and Auditor General (Additional Functions) Act-1974, Comptroller and Auditor General (Additional Functions) (amendment) Act-1975.
